Welcome to the official PNZBC website!

The Philippines – New Zealand Business Council (PNZBC) was established in 1994 to promote and foster long term trade, economic and technical cooperation, tourism and cultural relations between the Philippines and New Zealand. The PNZBC also aims to establish an effective top level consultative and working relationship between businessmen, enterprises and trade organizations. The PNZBC also has a role in providing economic, trade and other information of interest to members.

The PNZBC meets every other month. These gatherings are aimed to provide members with an opportunity to keep in touch with each other and to share common business interest. There are usually additional functions throughout the year, often arranged to coincide with visiting New Zealand-business missions and Government Ministers. The Executive Committee of the Council meets on alternate months.

RUGBY – THIS IS OUR GAME!

I was in New Zealand 4 weeks ago, it was a 2-week business trip but managed to get my schedule to have a weekend in Auckland. Auckland is where my Whanau is. Whanau is the Maori word for Family.

At 10AM on a Sunday morning, Mum and my sister picked me up from the hotel and next stop was the Waitemata Rugby Club. Two of my nephews were playing Rugby against a team from Ponsonby. This tournament is for the 12-year olds and under. Believe it or not, it was tough rugby, these very young lads get tackled, they get hurt, some cried a little and then they get back on line again. While their Whanau’s were watching on the sidelines, cheering, yelling and getting excited. I recognised one proud father at the sideline, the legendary All Blacks, Mr. Michael Jones, my favourite No. 7 of all time.

This is a true example of rugby being part of Kiwi life. They start them young and it is a family affair. No wonder this year’s New Zealand hosting of the Rugby World Cup 2011 tournament is a huge event. In fact to the majority of New Zealanders it means more and bigger than how the rest of the world is able to imagine it. It’s personal.
